Summer is here and one of my favorite things is to sit down in the sun with a nice ice cream. But on a ketogenic diet you can not just buy any ice cream in the store since most ice cream are full of carbohydrates. Therefor it is much better my make your own ketogenic ice cream. Not only will it be much more healthy but it will also taste much better than any ice cream you can buy in the store.
Ketogenic Blueberry ice cream
- 1 dL Crème fraiche
- 2 dL Cream (the 40%+ one)
- 1 dL Blueberries, frozen or fresh
- 1 Egg yolk
- 1/2 tablespoon vanilla powder
Start by whipping the crème fraiche until it gets a little more firm. Add in the whipped cream, the egg yolk and some blueberries. Whip everything together so that it all divides even and the form is starting to get a little firm. Then put it into the fridge until it has a firm shape. I usually put it over the night but a few hours should be fine.
Ketogenic ice cream with protein powder
- 1 Scoop Whey Protein
- 3 tablespoons heavy whipping cream
The first ice cream is one that you can make in a very easy way if you have some protein powder at home. Simply mix the protein powder with the heavy whipping cream until the cream gets thick. Then you just put it in the freezer for about an hour (or until it is frozen solid). Then you can simply eat it just like that. A perfect and simple ketogenic ice cream. I sometimes serve this together with some fresh strawberry since it goes perfectly with the vanilla protein powder that I use.
This recipe will contain around 17 grams of fat, 1 gram of carbohydrates and 24 grams of protein. It will change a little depending on what type of protein powder and whipping cream you use.
